Tailman Responsibilities

Tailman:

Overall responsibility – assist lead pipe layer in the correct and safe installation of the pipe in the trench.

Specific tasks:

• Using shovel for movement of soil and rock to place pipe on correct grade and/or location.
• Install fittings as required.
• Assist in bolting up of fittings, valves, hydrants, etc.
• Wrapping pipe if needed.
• Hooking and/or strapping pipe.
• Taking care of and using small tools properly.
• Keep watch on trench for safety.
